Fix
Short answer: The connected process can't receive some field types, so the new item opens incomplete. If those fields are required, or the target process has other blockers, creation fails.
Why it happens
- Some field types don't carry across a connected status, such as attachments, lookups, images, signatures, and rich text.
- The item must meet the status's conditions to enter it.
- You can connect only boards where you're an admin.
- Settings on the target process, such as the first step's assignee or a validation on Submit, can stop the item from being created.
How to fix it
- Open Manage > Edit workflow, open the connected status, and review Map fields. Don't rely on mapping attachment, smart attachment, lookup, remote lookup, image, aggregation, signature, rich text, or button fields.
- In the target process, make fields that can't be mapped optional, or fill them later in the workflow.
- Check how the target process's first step is assigned. If it uses Created by or Modified by, try assigning a specific user.
- Check whether the target process has a validation on Submit, and relax it if needed.
- Check the conditions on the connected status. Only items that meet them can enter it.
- Click Go live.
To create one process item per row of a board table, turn on Create items from table entries. See creating multiple dependent items.
Important
You can create up to 100 dependent items from one source item. In the list layout, a bulk move to a flow-connected status fails if another bulk move to the same status is still running. See connected boards FAQ.
