Kissflow Analytics data isn't updating, or says "data update failed"

Check the Last synced time; data sources sync hourly. If a sync failed, contact Kissflow support with the dataview and report details.

Fix

Short answer: Analytics data sources sync on a schedule, about once an hour. If the Last synced time stops moving or you see "data update failed", the sync has failed and Kissflow support has to fix it.

Why it happens

  • The first time a data source is used in a query or report, Kissflow fetches its data once. After that, it syncs on a schedule.
  • If a sync fails, data sources such as ProcessInstance or ActivityInstance stop updating until the failure is fixed.
  • Process reports don't depend on Analytics, so they keep working.
  • Changes made in a process, board, dataset or dataform show up in Analytics only after the next sync, so data up to an hour old is normal.

How to fix it

  1. Open the data source or dataview and check the Last synced time.
  2. The first time a query or report uses a data source, give the one-time fetch time to finish. It usually completes within ten minutes, and takes longer for large data.
  3. If the sync time is well over an hour old, or you see "data update failed", contact Kissflow support. Include:
    • the dataview ID
    • the report ID or URL
    • your debug session key (profile icon > My settings > API authentication > Debug session key > Show). See API authentication.
  4. Until the sync is fixed, use the process reports for decisions. Analytics data may be inconsistent.

For how syncing works, see understanding data sources and understanding dataviews.

Important

You can't force a re-sync yourself. Kissflow support has to fix a failed sync.
