Connections, auth and API

What is the difference between the "lookup" and "remote lookup" list APIs?

Both return every option a field can show for an item, not the selected value; lookup reads Kissflow data and remote lookup reads an external API.

How-to

Short answer: Both endpoints list the options a field offers on an item, not the value that's selected. Lookup reads Kissflow data. Remote lookup calls the external API the field is set up with.

Why it happens

  • A lookup field pulls options from Kissflow data, such as another board, process or dataset.
  • A remote lookup field calls an external API and shows the values it returns.

How to fix it

To list a lookup field's options:

  1. Call GET https://<subdomain>.kissflow.com/case/2/<account_id>/<board_id>/<item_id>/<field_id>/lookup.
  2. Use page_number, page_size (default 10) and q to page and search.

To list a remote lookup field's options, call the same path ending in /rlookup.

To read the value that's selected on the item, retrieve the item itself with GET /case/2/<account_id>/<board_id>/<item_id>.

See the API reference and the remote lookup field.
