How do I let board members see only the items assigned to them?

Add them to the board as Restricted members. They see only the items assigned to them and can act on an item only while they're its current assignee.

How-to

Short answer: Make those users Restricted members of the board. A restricted member sees only the items assigned to them, and can edit or view transitions only while they're the current assignee.

Why it happens

  • Admins and members see every item on the board.
  • Restricted members see only their assigned items, can't open shared views, and can create only private views.

How to fix it

  1. Open the board and click Manage > Share.
  2. Add the users, or change an existing member's role with Make a restricted member.
  3. Assign items to them. They see each item while it's assigned to them.

See members and roles in a board.

To control who sees an item as it moves:

  1. Use separate statuses for each team, and change the item's assignee as it reaches each status.

To keep other people informed about a specific item:

  1. Open the item, click Watchers > Add watchers, and pick board members. An item can have one assignee and up to 49 watchers. See watching an item.

Important

Team-scoped visibility, such as "my team's items only", isn't built in. If a user is an admin through a group, you can't lower their role for that board individually. Watchers are turned on or off for the whole board.
