Building integrations

Automatically update Asana tasks from a Kissflow workflow

Build a two-step integration with a Kissflow Process trigger and the Asana connector so Asana tasks update when an item finishes a workflow step.

Tip

Short answer: Create an integration with a Kissflow Process trigger and an Asana action. When an item clears a step such as a review, the matching Asana task updates on its own, so nobody has to copy details across by hand.

When to use this

Use this when your team tracks work in Asana, for example tasks for external vendors, but the approvals happen in a Kissflow process. Once an item completes the review step, the integration updates the corresponding Asana task, so everyone sees the same status in both tools.

Set it up

  1. Click Create in the left navigation panel and select Integration.
  2. Enter a name and description, and click Create.
  3. Add a Kissflow Process trigger and select your process. To act after the review step, use When an item enters this step on the step that follows the review.
  4. Click the Add button to add an action step, search for Asana, and select Update a task.
  5. Click +Add an account and sign in to Asana.
  6. Map the Asana task fields to fields from the trigger step. Update a task needs to know which task to change, so keep the Asana task ID in a field on the item, for example from an earlier Create a task run.
  7. Click Test to check the action.
  8. Turn on the toggle to activate the integration.

For the full list of Asana triggers and actions, see Asana connector.

Tip

You can update other task details too, such as the completion status, due date and assignee.
