Child tables

Can a child table start with a default number of rows?

Not natively. As a workaround, an integration can add blank rows when a new item is created.

Fix

Short answer: No. A child table can't start with a set number of rows, so users add rows by hand. An integration can add blank rows for you as a workaround.

Why it happens

Child tables have no default row count setting. In the table settings you can only set validations for the minimum and maximum number of rows that must be completed.

How to fix it

Use this workaround for initiators who have a Kissflow licence:

  1. Create an integration with the Kissflow Process trigger When an item is created.
  2. Add one Create row action for each row you want.
  3. In each action, use _current_context as the source. It acts like a one-row table, so each action adds one row.
  4. Turn on the integration.

Users see the new rows after a few seconds and a page refresh.

Important

A row created by an integration needs a value in at least one column. The workaround works only for users with a Kissflow licence.
