Show a Rating field's value in a Number field

Short answer: Rating fields are stored as numbers. Compute a Number field with the Rating field's ID and it shows the rating as a number.

When to use this

Use this when you collect star ratings, for example in an appraisal form, but also need the score as a number to total, average or report on.

Set it up

1. Add a Rating field, for example Performance_Rating.
2. Add a Number field and turn on Is this a computed field?.
3. Enter the Rating field's ID as the formula, for example Performance_Rating.
4. Save the field. When someone rates, the Number field shows the score.

Rating and slider fields work as number fields in any expression, so you can also use them directly in other calculations.
