Fix
Short answer: Each file can be up to 100 MB, and the field may allow only certain file types. Zip files that won't upload. If only some users are affected, the cause is usually their network, not Kissflow.
Why it happens
- The file is larger than 100 MB, or larger than a lower limit the form creator set on the field.
- The form creator restricted the field to certain file types, and the file isn't one of them.
- The file itself is damaged or password-protected.
- A VPN, firewall, proxy or HOSTS-file rule blocks the upload for some users.
- Rarely, a platform issue affects every user or one file type.
How to fix it
- Check the file size. The attachment field takes up to 100 MB per file. Form creators can set a lower limit under the field's validations.
- Check the file type. Under the field's validations, Attachment file type can limit uploads to a choice of JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, DOC, DOCX, PDF, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX, CSV, TXT, EML and ZIP. If a type outside that list fails, such as
.dsd, or a password-protected.xlsmfile fails, zip the file and upload the ZIP. - If one file fails, try another file of the same type. Some failures are specific to one file.
- If an upload stalls once, retry it.
- If only some users are affected, try the same upload from another network. If that works, ask IT to check VPN, firewall and proxy rules. Also clear the browser's site data.
- If every user is affected, or a file type suddenly stops uploading, contact Kissflow support with the file type and the flows involved.
To upload several files, use an attachment field. An image field holds one image only.
Important
In-app preview works only for PDF, XLS, XLSX and ODS files, and not for password-protected ones; download other files to open them. You can't copy attachments from child-table rows into one form attachment field.
