Fix
Short answer: In-progress items that sat on a step you deleted or moved show as Suspended. Reassign each item to yourself and send it back so it runs through the new workflow.
Why it happens
- When you publish a workflow change, in-progress items stay where they were. If that step no longer exists in the same place, the item shows as suspended.
How to fix it
- Click Go live again, then try reassigning the item.
- In More options > Administration, reassign the item to yourself.
- Open it from Assigned items and Send back to the last step it passed. When it's submitted again, it follows the new workflow.
- If that step isn't offered, send it back to Start so it runs through all the new steps.
If you moved steps into a new parallel branch, in-progress items show them as suspended, but assignees can still approve them.
See admin actions in a process and send back actions.
Important
You can only send back to steps the item has already passed. Items inside parallel branches can't be reassigned from Administration.
